Choosing a Blog Niche Almost Gave Me a Headache — Here’s What Helped
When I started blogging, I thought the hardest part would be writing.
I was wrong.
Choosing a blog niche almost stopped me from starting at all.
Too many questions:
-
Should I blog about money?
-
Tech?
-
Personal life?
-
Something “profitable”?
If you’re stuck at this stage, you’re not alone.
Here’s what finally helped me move forward.
What Is a Blog Niche (In Simple Words)
A blog niche is simply:
The main topic your blog focuses on
Examples:
-
Blogging
-
Personal finance
-
Fitness
-
Tech tutorials
-
Travel
A niche tells:
-
Google what your blog is about
-
Readers why they should follow you
Why Choosing a Niche Feels So Confusing
Because everyone online says:
-
“Pick a profitable niche”
-
“Follow your passion”
-
“Do keyword research first”
That advice isn’t wrong — it’s just overwhelming for beginners.
The 3-Question Method That Helped Me
Instead of overthinking, I asked myself just three simple questions:
1️⃣ Can I write about this for 6 months?
If the answer is no — skip it.
2️⃣ Am I willing to learn more about this topic?
You don’t need to be an expert.
You just need curiosity.
3️⃣ Do people actually search for this?
If nobody searches for it, traffic will be tough.
If a topic passes all three, it’s a good niche.
Should Beginners Pick a Broad or Narrow Niche?
👉 Start narrow. Always.
❌ “Blogging”
✅ “Blogging for beginners”
❌ “Fitness”
✅ “Home workouts for beginners”
Narrow niches:
-
Rank faster
-
Attract the right audience
-
Reduce competition
You can always expand later.
My Honest Advice (Important)
Stop searching for the perfect niche.
There is none.
The best niche is:
One you start and stay consistent with.
Final Thoughts
Choosing a niche shouldn’t delay your blogging journey.
Pick one.
Start writing.
Improve along the way.
In the next post, I’ll share low-competition blog niche ideas that beginners can actually work with.
